Working with an organizer is a collaborative process. We do not arrive and tell you to “do this” or “do that.” There are no right or wrong answers in the process of organizing. Rather I look at “helpful” and “not helpful” aspects of your current situation.
We are essentially change agents. We want to know how you arrived at your current state of affairs, in order to develop solutions that are more likely to stick. We also help you look forward, to a new vision of your home, and work with you to get there.
• Accountability. When immersed in your busy, day-to-day life, it’s hard to find the time to address all those projects on your to-do list. Contracting with someone who takes your best interests to heart is a very pivotal experience, similar to hiring a “personal trainer for your home.” We put your life on hold long enough to focus and make meaningful changes.
• Perspective. A fresh perspective on what may be old or challenging sore spots in your home is priceless. Often very small, simple (and sometimes obvious) solutions can make a big difference in your world. When you invite an organizer into your home you get to see it in a new way, through the eyes of a stranger.
• Coaching and counsel. Decisions, decisions, decisions! So much of organizing is decision-making. In fact, sometimes clutter is actually defined as “deferred decisions.” I act as your advocate and ally in sorting and weeding out, and helping with those endless decisions, whether they’re large ones or small ones.
• Real-world experience. Individually, you also benefit from any organizer’s experience out in the field. We see where books and theory mix with practical, real-world situations, and every job under our belt gives us even greater perspective on subsequent projects.
